A man who eluded a deputy was denied probation on Monday.
Gerald Jay Borja, 46, originally denied the eluding charges in January. He was also charged with credit card theft and burglary of a motor vehicle.
He was arrested June 10, 2024, at Lake Tahoe and has been in custody at Douglas County Jail since.
He was sentenced to 19-48 months for eluding a police officer and 19-48 months for the credit card theft and card burglary, which are to run simultaneously. He was given credit for 273 days.
β’ A man who failed to appear for court five years ago had his diversion revoked May 19.
Javier Walker, 29, received a deferred sentence in August 2020 for a stolen motor vehicle, a misdemeanor offense he committed June 8, 2017, and he was scheduled to appear in District Court in October 2020, which he failed to do.
According to his attorney, Walker abandoned his diversion program but has spent the last year in a rehab facility in California then turned himself in on the warrant once he got out.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 2.
β’ A woman who attempted to steal from Target faces five years in prison.
Julie Ann Walker, 40, was arrested April 2, after she entered Target on Jacks Valley Road with the intent to commit larceny.
She was released on May 19 on her own recognizance after spending 41 days in jail. Sentencing is scheduled for July 14.
β’ A man who violated two special conditions of probation was dishonorably discharged.
Mark Jordan-James Nadler, 37, received a suspended sentence March 20, 2023, after admitting to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Nadler was arrested July 17, 2022, after being caught with a black Ruger, which was prohibited to have due to a prior battery and domestic violence conviction.
During court Nadler admitted to failing to obtain substance abuse and mental health evaluations. Nadler was sentenced to a suspended 30 days in jail as long as he pays the remaining $89 of his fees.
