The R-C Morning Report for Sept. 5

Rate increases for Douglas County’s water and sewer systems take effect on Oct. 1 after being approved by commissioners on Thursday. Water rates will go up 2.6 percent, while the sewer rate will go up 3.25 percent. One north Valley resident spoke at the meeting.

Heritage Park will be hopping on Saturday with the GE Motor Show and the Harvest Festival. Gardnerville Ranchos and Fish Springs are conducting their annual fundraisers on Saturday. You could do both, with the Ranchos conducting a golf tournament at Carson Valley Golf Course and dinner in Fish Springs. Looks like another mild day today with the high heading toward 84 and a light breeze of 5 mph out of the northeast in the afternoon.
