The R-C Morning Report for Aug. 22

The red flag goes up at 11 a.m. today and will stay up until 8 p.m. for high winds and low humidity. Winds are forecast to hit 15-25 mph, gusting to 35-40 mph with humidity down to 8-15 percent. Try to avoid doing anything that can create a spark out in the world.

It’s going to be a busy weekend with the last concert in the park tonight, Relay for Life, and the CVI’s 30th birthday. Interestingly, it took 30 years for Minden to get a second casino. Which means that the third casino zoned for Minden should open in 2044. For more about what’s going on this weekend, pick up a copy of The Record-Courier on stands now.

Did I mention it was going to be windy? Minden’s forecast calls for 35 mph gusts in the afternoon. The temperature will hit 83 degrees under sunny skies.
