The R-C Morning Report for Aug. 6

Genoa’s Cowboy Festival will ride again, if the town can raise $30,000 in sponsorships by Nov. 1, town board members decided on Tuesday. Organizer Dan Aynesworth announced he’d secured a new $10,000 sponsor at the board’s meeting, bolstering confidence that the event will go forward and make money.

Gardnerville Town Board members continued discussion on several waivers sought by The Ranch for a multi-family project that increases density on the project near Gilman Avenue. Board members will have another meeting in August once staff members work out their differences with the project, which was pulled from the planning commission agenda for next week.

Tonight, the Minden Town Board will hear a request by Sonic to build a restaurant on the vacant lot across Highway 395 from Minden Village. Minden meets starting 5:30 p.m. in the CVIC Hall.

We might see some sun today. Thunderstorms remain in the forecast after 11 a.m. Expect the high temperature to reach 82 degrees.
