Gardnerville motorcyclist killed in Kingsbury accident

A Gardnerville Ranchos resident was killed Wednesday night when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Kingsbury Grade.

Daniel Holland, 45, was killed in the accident while riding down the Grade on a 2009 Harley Davidson at about 11:22 p.m.

Trooper Dave Gibson said the initial investigation indicates Holland crossed the centerline in a curve, and laid the motorcycle down in an attempt to prevent a collision.

His momentum carried him into the path of a 1999 Mercury Mystique driven by Gardnerville Ranchos resident David Villela, 64. Villela was not injured in the accident, according to Gibson.

Holland was transported from the scene.

Gibson said the highway was closed for about two hours. No citation was issued, and there was no indication of drugs or alcohol in connection with the accident.
