A 67-year-old Topaz man is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court for arraignment on charges of felony domestic battery and false imprisonment. David Cantrell’s wife testified that he beat her on two occasions at a preliminary hearing a few weeks ago. Cantrell is denying the charge.
We’ve heard that 71-year-old Gardnerville resident Don Rhead is on life support after a July 6 accident at Highway 88 and 395. The NHP said he had non-life threatening injuries, though they can’t comment on the medical issue that caused the accident due to federal HIPPA laws.
It appears both the floods that hit northeastern Carson Valley came off Hot Spring Mountain, rather than the more traditional washes. I’ve never heard of the mountain being a source of flooding, though clearly it is, so I think we can safely call that a 25-year flood, if not bigger.
The county has sandbags for people at the Fish Springs, Johnson Lane and Jacks Valley fire stations. I didn’t see anyone at Jacks Valley last night filling sand bags.
A chance of thunderstorms remains in the forecast today with isolated showers after 1 p.m. Expect mostly sunny skies with a high temperature near 85 degrees. It appears that Monday’s thunderstorms hit north and east of us.
