There’s a lot of human and not much fire activity on the southern flank of the Clear Creek fire this morning. Public Information Officer Mark Struble said he thinks most of the work will be on the northern flank. Though I don’t have confirmation, Jacks Valley Road being open indicates to me that perhaps voluntary evacuations are no longer in effect.
Expect to see a few more smoke plumes in the mountains today as vegetation dries out and some of those lightning strikes that have been smoldering perk up.
County commissioners will hear an update on the search for a county manager at their regular meeting in Stateline 1:30 p.m. today. Also commissioners will discuss an agreement with the state to provide $75,000 in state funding to New Logic Research for up to 30 jobs.
Gardnerville’s trash pickup will be behind schedule today due to equipment problems with some of the trucks.
Expect more of the same weather today with the high reaching 94 degrees and a little better odds of seeing heavy showers. We received .04 inches of rain from Wednesday’s attempt at precipitation. The wind will be out of the northeast at 5 mph. A flash flood watch is in effect until 9 p.m.
