The R-C Morning Report for July 10

A 1.57 magnitude earthquake was recorded at one of the shaky spots west of Mount Patterson between Bridgeport and Coleville at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday. There’s been a little swarm in that spot over the last couple of days, but nothing compared to the swarm near Hot Creek Hatchery, where there were four more between 7 and 10 p.m. bringing the total more than 30 since Tuesday.

We might be looking at a stormy Thursday, with the National Weather Service forecasting that moisture from the south will combine with an upper level low to set off scattered showers and thunderstorms today. Expect storms to develop over the Sierra and expand across Nevada by evening. The storms could result in heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and outflow winds.

The forecast is calling for scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon. Otherwise expect partly sunny skies with the high temperature near 88. Summer will return over the weekend with the high forecast to hit 99 by Monday.
