The R-C Morning Report for July 9

Interim County Manager Larry Werner will be on The R-C Running Commentary today at 10:30 a.m. Send your questions to editor@recordcourier.com.

It might not seem like extending the footprint of your house by 6 inches all the way around would require a major variance, or prompt an opposing petition from 50 residents of your neighborhood, but that’s what happened at the Douglas County Planning Commission on Tuesday. Planning commissioners granted a variance for the setback of a home at 613 Freel Drive. The owners want to put a second story on the house and plan to build a shell around it to support the top layer.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast today after 1 p.m. It will be cooler today, with a forecast high of 92 degrees, and even cooler on Thursday and Friday. Central Nevada is under a flash flood watch thanks to the monsoons.
