An accident that snarled traffic Sunday morning on Highway 395 in Minden was caused when a 71-year-old Gardnerville man suffered from a medical issue.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the driver of a white Subaru was northbound on Highway 88 at around 8:45 a.m. when he encountered the problem. He drove into the southbound lane and then across the median and into a light pole where 395 traffic merges onto 88.
The Subaru sedan caught fire, forcing the highway to close for more than an hour. The man was taken for treatment with nonlife threatening injuries.
Sunday’s accident was four days after a pickup struck a power pole serving a Minden business on Wednesday, closing the highway while power crews stabilized the pole.
