The R-C Morning Report for July 3

A Minden bar owner had to face the music on Wednesday when he pleaded guilty to allowing a band of troubadours to play outside his establishment. Paquale Cioffi was cited for allowing live entertainment of perform at the Corner Bar on May 3 without a permit. On Wednesday his sentence was deferred for a year on condition he not let it happen again.

Minden’s loss is Douglas County’s gain, but making that transition will require the next six months. Thaler will be sworn in as a Douglas County commissioner in January, and will have to vacate his seat on the town board. A call for applications for his seat will take place in August or September, according to a proposal prepared by the Minden staff.

It will be a sunny Independence Day eve today with a high of 92, and west winds 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. It could be breezy on the Fourth with the winds not dying down until after 10 p.m. Hopefully that doesn’t affect the fireworks shows.
