Eagle Scouts bicycle through Valley on way across nation

Eagle Scouts started Day 13 cycling across America on Friday by riding down Woodfords Canyon and along Foothill Road to Genoa.

The Scouts started on June 8 cycling from the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco to the Atlantic Ocean at Virginia Beach, Va.

The group consists of about nine riders from Troop 165. Coming from Camp Winston they rode on into Genoa via Foothill Lane, taking a break in Genoa in order to meet Cub Scouts at Mormon Station State Historical Park.

They will ride an estimated 72 miles and end the day in Carson City where they will be served a barbecue dinner in Mills Park by the local Carson City Troops 16 and 33 and others.

“Our mission is to demonstrate how motivated young men, committed to the values of exercise and healthy living, practice the twelve points of the Boy Scout Law while challenging themselves to reach new heights,” officials said.
