The R-C Morning Report for June 16

A Gardnerville woman who was arrested in the last week of 2013 for allegedly breaking into a veterinary hospital where she used to work and taking the cash box is scheduled for sentencing this morning. Amber Nicole Serrato, 29, is set to appear before District Judge Michael Gibbons today.

A jet fire tanker that was in the air on Sunday will be conducting tests this week for the U.S. Forest Service. The Bae 146 belonging to Minden Air is undergoing final certification for use to fight fires.

An eighth-acre fire in timber, piñon and juniper near Leavitt Meadows, not far from Pickel Meadows Mountain Warfare Trainin Center, that was reported Sunday morning has been contained. A 168-acre grass fire east of Fallon near Fairview Peak that was reported on Friday was contained on Saturday.

The weather won’t be kind to firefighters today. The red flag goes up at noon, but it’s already breezy out. Expect southwest winds 10-15 mph increasing to 20-25 mph, gusting to 35 mph. Otherwise it will be mostly sunny with a high temperature in the mid-70s.
