The late R-C Morning Report for June 5

There was a noninjury accident at Highway 395 and Grant near the Gardnerville Walmart reported on the NHP website at 7:21 a.m.

The state’s highway projects plan through 2024 will be presented at today’s Douglas County Board of Commissioners meeting. While there are $784 million in long range projects, there isn’t near that much money, so things like the $268 million east side bypass from Pine Nut Road to the Carson City bypass are more in the realm of science fiction. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. at the CVIC Hall today.

The state is planning to spend $10.9 million in Douglas County during 2015 with most of that going to Lake Tahoe projects. About $2.9 million in bridge work on Highway 395 at Cradlebaugh Slough and the Carson River is in the budget. The state plans to install highway advisory radio at Holbrook Junction, Hawthorne, Schurz, Wellington and Yerington.

We could see thunderstorms today after 1 p.m. Expect a high temperature of 87, and the wind picking up to 5 mph later today. There should be some higher winds near thunderstorms.
