The Douglas County Republican Central Committee invites voters to a free candidate forum 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave., Minden.
Candidates for lieutenant governor Mark Hutchison and Sue Lowden will be there.. KKFT 99.1 FM’s owner, Carson Valley’s own, Jerry Evans will moderate this event with questions supplied by the voters. The public is invited and the doors open at 5:30 p.m. Voters should visit www.douglasgop.org and click the “2014 Candidate Forum” link to submit questions.
Nevada Republican Party Vice Chairman Jim DeGraffenreid is scheduled to attend. Voters must register by Tuesday to vote in this primary. Early voting in Nevada is May 24 through June 6. Democrats host sheriff candidates
Candidates for sheriff will meet with the Douglas County Democratic Central Committee on May 22.
“All three candidates have confirmed they’ll be here,” said central committee chair Kimi Cole. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Democratic Headquarters, 1513 Hwy 395 S., Gardnerville. A social time will precede the meeting at 6:30 p.m. The three are Sheriff Ron Pierini, who has held the post since 1996, running unopposed for four terms, former county commissioner Dave Brady, and retired Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Michael Gyll.
