Breezy weekend could bring rain Monday

A wind advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday as gusty winds blow through Carson Valley.

The National Weather Service is forecasting southwest winds 25-35 mph, gusting to 45-55 mph, with wind prone areas seeing gusts of up to 60 mph.

Motorists can expect difficult driving along Highway 395 and Interstate 580. Unsecured items may be blown around, causing damage to fences.

A 37 mph gust was clocked in Carson Valley at 2:40 p.m.

Windier conditions accompanying a front are expected to bring temperatures down from the week’s highs.

The high temperature observed on Friday in Minden was 84 degrees, only 4 short of the record high of 88 degrees set in 1947.

Sunday is expected to be breezy with southwest winds 10-15 mph, increasing to 20-25 mph, and gusting to 35 mph.

There’s a chance of thundershowers starting Monday night.
