Commissioners delayed approval of rate increases for the county water and sewer systems until their June 5 meeting. They voted to hold a workshop between now and then to educate users on the need for the increase, but it sounds like they’re sticking with the 3.25 percent.

With all the road closures, it’s nice to report that Tioga Pass through Yosemite National Park will open at noon today. There will be limited services while the rest of the park geets in gear for the season.
Meanwhile, they approved leaving the base water rate for Sierra Country Estates water users at $310 a month. There are only a handful of ratepayers served by the gated community’s system, which is under orders both from the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection and the State Engineer.
