Main Street and Jacks Valley Road between Nixon and 5th streets in Genoa will be closed May 1-4 for the fifth annual Genoa Cowboy Festival. The closure will start at 8 a.m. May 1 and end 5 p.m. May 4. This section of Main Street will be closed to all through traffic. Northbound through traffic on Foothill Road must use Carson Street to Genoa Street to 5th Street to get to Jacks Valley Road, or Foothill Road to Genoa Lane to get to Highway 395. Southbound through traffic on Jacks Valley Road must use 5th Street to Genoa Street to Carson Street to get to Foothill Road.

Bishop Tri County Fair seeking vendors
The Eastern Sierra Tri County Fair in Bishop, Calif., is looking for vendors for this year’s Aug. 28-31 fair.
“This is a great opportunity for exposure and income for your business or service,” said Fair Chief Executive Officer Sally A. Symons. “Our four-day fair runs Labor Day Weekend and sees on average 30,000 people over those four days.” The Eastern Sierra Tri County Fair is looking for food, goods and service vendors to offer fairgoers a wide selection of goods.

Chimney Beach among Forest Service areas opening soon
The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is opening some recreation facilities early this season.
Inspiration Point, Logan Shoals, Chimney Beach and Secret Harbor open Monday, while Sawmill Pond and Sandpit OHV areas open May 1, officials announced this week. Baldwin Beach and Nevada Beach and Campground open May 9.
Kaspian, Meeks Bay, Bayview and Fallen Leaf campgrounds open May 16. Taylor Creek Visitor Center, Tallac Historic Site and Kiva picnic area open May 24. Luther Pass Campground opens May 25 and Blackwood Canyon and Watson Lake open June 1.

William Kent Campground on the West Shore will remain closed for construction during the 2014 season, officials said. Beach and day use sites will be closed for part of the season.
Work in the campground includes installation of best management practices to reduce the amount of storm water runoff and sediment reaching Lake Tahoe. Work is expected to be finished in 2014; work on beach and day use areas might extend into 2015 depending on weather and water levels.
