Tonopah resident Devan Wright killed in accident

A Tonopah woman was killed early Monday morning when she failed to negotiate a curve on the Gabbs Pole Line Road 12 miles north of Tonopah.

Devan L. Wright, 24, was northbound in a 2007 Nissan Versa on the road that connects Tonopah with Gabbs when she drove across the oncoming lanes and into the unpaved shoulder, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation.

Wright overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to rotate, and then roll over, coming to rest in the desert east of the road.

According to the NHP, Wright wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead by Nye County deputies.

Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this accident. Witnesses can contact him at the Reno NHP office at (775) 689-4661, or at ckelly@dps.state.nv.us, regarding case No. NHP-140301296.
