Mottsville traffic light back after accident

The signal light at Mottsville Lane and Highway 88, destroyed by last week’s traffic accident, was back in operation on Friday.

Workers were still adjusting the light on Friday afternoon.

A big rig hauling cattle from Yerington to Escalon, Calif., collided with a passenger vehicle and ran off the road, killing 25 of the 66 cows inside when it tipped over.

The rest of the load of 66 cows were herded into a field with the help of members of the Stodieck family.

The truck also knocked over the signal light and a power pole, leaving 2,300 people without electricity.

The driver of the big rig, Stockton resident Grant T. Terpsta, 25, was cited for failing to obey the traffic signal, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Stateline resident George Jaqua received nonlife-threatening injuries in the accident.
