Topaz site of vehicle accident

One person was injured in a vehicle accident early Thursday morning after a big rig struck the back of a pickup parked along Highway 395 along Topaz Lake.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 4:40 a.m. just south of High Point.

A 1972 Ford F-100 was legally parked on the highway’s right shoulder after it broke down the night before.

A 2000 Freightliner travelling southbound left the highway and hit the pickup, which was occupied.

A 24-year-old man in the pickup was taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno by Mono County Paramedics.

Neither of the occupants of the Freightliner were injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, which did not release the identities of either vehicles’ occupants.
