The belated R-C Morning Report for March 6

Douglas County commissioners will be discussing water and sewer rates at their meeting today. The current rates for both county water and sewer service expire on June 30. While there are a variety of proposals, increases for water could range from .75 percent to 3.25 percent depending on which option commissioners pick. Sewer rates could increase 2-6 percent. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. at the Historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St.

The wind was howling this morning when I woke up, but it seems to have died back a little bit this morning. According to the DRI wind gauge we’ve already had a 49 mph gust at 6:10 a.m. It might be a good day to leave the Winnebago at home. If you’re working on the computer, save often.

We got about a half-inch of rain on the west side of the Valley overnight. Further toward the center of the Valley they’re getting quarter inch of rain.

The wind advisory is in effect through 4 p.m. today, then through the weekend, it’s a case of rinse and repeat, as more showers are forecast to arrive. Expect the high today to hit 57, 25-30 mph, and gusting to 40 mph.
