The R-C Morning Report for March 4

Gardnerville plans to seek a $550,000 transportation alternatives program grant from the state to improve safety of the Highway 395 S-Curve at the former Eagle Gas Station. The work would include new sidewalks and drainage improvements. Town Board members will discuss that and other issues at their meeting 4:30 p.m. today in Gardnerville.

Genoa Town Board members will be taking the night off from their regular meeting.

It rained a bit on the west side of the Valley. Heavenly Valley is reporting 3 inches of snow overnight. As of this morning, the Carson River basin snow-water equivalent is up to 55 percent of average for the year, according to the Natural Resource Conservation Service. That’s better off than the Truckee, Lake Tahoe or the Walker River, but it’s still not good.

Expect partly sunny skies today with a high near 62 degrees. It will cloud up again tonight with a slight chance of rain on Wednesday.
