A nurse who was intercepting medication intended for patients at a Gardnerville rehabilitation center admitted to fraudulent possession of a dangerous drug.
Michelle Salas, 40, will have to undergo a rigorous program overseen by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to keep her license.
Judge Michael Gibbons described the program as more onerous than the one she’d have to undergo if she went to drug court.
It was discovered Salas had prescription drugs belonging to four different patients.
She told investigators that she had a prescription for the drug, but couldn’t afford to pay for it herself.
Salas was disciplined by the nursing board for unprofessional conduct, diversion of drugs and misappropriating a patient’s property.
