Kiwanis sponsor concert

Tickets are available for the “Woody and The Longboards” concert Feb. 22 to benefit two Douglas County nonprofit groups.

Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley is sponsoring the Riverside, Calif., band, with proceeds going to the Suicide Prevention Network and Between Horses and Humans.

Kiwanis Club member Dave Nelson said the two organizations fit the club’s dedication toward helping children.

The popular band — which also covers Beach Boys classics — performed last year to a sell-out crowd.

In addition to the concert, the Kiwanis Club is holding a raffle and live auction.

Prizes include a week in Cancun, helicopter ride over Lake Tahoe, glider ride, V&T ride to Virginia City, jewelry, and other items.

Tickets are $25 per person. Doors open at the CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda Ave., in Minden for no-host cocktails 6-7 p.m. followed by the concert at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available from any Kiwanis Club member, at the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, Carson Valley Arts Council, Suicide Prevention Network, Between Horses and Humans, or at the door.
