Winds cause power outage

A tree limb blown into powerlines by strong winds caused a power outage in Carson Valley on Friday morning.

The outage knocked out power to the traffic light at Buckeye and Highway 395, requiring deputies to direct traffic until it was restored.

NV Energy Spokesman Karl Walquist said about 65 customers were affected by the outage in Minden and Gardnerville, including the Carson Valley Inn.

The outage occurred at about 8 a.m. and was over for all but about 10 customers by 8:37 a.m. Remaining customers were restored by 9:30 a.m.
