A 44-year-old Topaz Ranch Estates woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday to allegations that she took her children in violation of a custody order.
Kathryn Moore entered a “not guilty” plea to a charge of child concealment or removal.
District Judge Tod Young authorized $1,250 in funds for Moore’s attorney, Kris Brown, to pay for a psychological evaluation and risk assessment for her client.
She emphasized that Moore is competent to stand trial and assist in her defense.
Young set a hearing for March 11 for results of the assessment.
Moore waived her right to a trial within 60 days on the felony charge.
Moore faces the charge after she failed to bring her 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son for a court-ordered visitation with their father in November.
Moore and the children were found safe in January at a relative’s home in Colville, Wash., after a nationwide warrant was issued for child concealment.
The children have been returned to their father.
Moore is in Douglas County Jail on $25,000 bail.
