A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. today as snow is expected fall this morning with accumulations of 1-3 inches and higher amounts above 5,000 feet, according to a statement issued by the National Weather Service. This is the first bit of a wet weather pattern expected to continue with a stronger storm over the weekend.
I saw a couple of snowflakes on the way in this morning, but no indication it has snowed. There are road controls on Interstate 80 and Highway 50 through the Sierra, and over Spooner Summit. Whatever’s coming hasn’t made it this far south yet.
Douglas County commissioners will be looking at an ordinance that allows craft distilleries at their regular meeting this afternoon. The craft distillery ordinance will permit Chris Bently to go forward with his plans for the old Minden mill. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. Thursday at the historic Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.
We had a three earthquakes in the south county with a magnitude 1.4 and 1.2 at around 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Wednesday night in the Sierra above Leviathan Mine Road. The third hit on the east side of Topaz Lake at 3:47 a.m.
