Under the Stars. The Douglas County Library Foundation presents an evening under the stars storytelling with Jim Cogan 5-9 p.m. Saturday at the Jacob's Family Berry Farm, 1335 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. $50 per person in advance. Rummage Sale. Topaz Community Church is hosting a rummage sale 8 a.m. 3 p.m. today and Saturday. Tools, kitchen appliances, clothes, toys and more are for sale. The church is located at 1469 Highway 395 South.
Storytelling. Storytelling with Nancy Raven and friends is set for Sunday. Hear accounts of early life in the Carson Valley or share your own insight and adventures. The event is at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 U.S. Highway 395 N. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Storytelling begins at 2 p.m. Free admission. Information, 775-782-2555.
Backpack Blessing. The Carson Valley United Methodist Church will hold its fourth annual "Blessing of the Backpacks," a special worship service to encourage and bless returning students and school staff, during 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m services Sunday. John Palmore. John Palmore will perform 6-10 p.m. Sunday in the Cabaret Lounge at the Carson Valley Inn. John Palmore is a musical director for the late "Louis Armstrong" and an accomplished singer and keyboardist who has worked with Jackie Wilson, Mary Wells, ZZ Hill, Wilson Pickett, Joe Simon, The Platters and other "name" artists.
