Staff Reports

In celebration of a 48-year milestone, Grand Funk Railroad is coming to your town to help you party down. Known as "The American Band," this high-energy five-piece group will play live at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa on Oct. 21. Show time is 8 p.m. in the MontBleu Showroom, and doors open an hour in advance.

Grand Funk Railroad features founding members Don Brewer and Mel Schacher, joined by veterans Max Carl of 38 Special, Bruce Kulick of KISS and keyboardist Tim Cashion who played with Robert Palmer as well as Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.

Grand Funk is still performing 48 years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Mich. Mega-hits "We're an American Band," "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home," "Locomotion," and "Some Kind Of Wonderful" still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio.

Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, eight Top 40 hits and two No. 1 singles. The group has now accumulated 13 gold and ten platinum records with record sales in excess of 25 million copies sold worldwide.
