Pops orchestra performs winter concert Saturday

The Town of Minden and the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra, directed by Elizabeth Ann Eubanks, present their 2013 winter concert on Saturday.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. in the CVIC Hall in Minden.

This year’s concert will celebrate multicultural seasonal selections as well as some all-time holiday standards and Christmas favorites.

“Some of the songs are different variations of holiday music from around the world,” board member Margaret Biggs said. “At the end, there will be a sing-along of some popular Christmas songs.”

Trombone player Rose Campion, 17, will guest conduct a couple of pieces as well.

Admission is free. There will be beer and wine available for sale along with a holiday raffle.

Raffle prizes include dinner packages and gift certificates from Quail Cottage, Joyce’s Fine Jewelry, GadZooks and more.

The concert is sponsored by Martha Williams (Antiques Plus in Genoa), Timothy R. Stoll, D.D.S., Phil Stoll and the Town of Minden.

“It’s a nice way to start the holiday season,” Biggs said. “And the intermission is a fun time to come and talk with everybody.”
