Italian food for a cause

“La Vita e’ Bella” is not only Italian for, “The beautiful life,” but it is also the name of an all-you-can-eat buffet, dance performance, and silent auction fundraiser for the Suicide Prevention Network of Douglas County and Western Nevada College scholarships.

The event, presented by the WNC Douglas Diversity Student Club, is 5:30-9 p.m., Saturday in the Carson Valley Inn Ballroom.

“We do 50/50,” said Sergio Arteaga, club advisor, “half to a nonprofit organization and half to scholarships.”

The club is dedicated to helping local nonprofit organizations raise funds in order to give back to the community.

Food will be available from 6-7 p.m. The menu includes tri-color cheese tortellini and fried sausage-stuffed ravioli, marinara and Alfredo sauce, and garlic bread sticks served with a house salad.

“(The club) did the auction last year, and we wanted to step it up this year to raise more money.” said Arteaga.

A performance by the Forever Dance Studio in Tahoe is at 8 p.m., with the silent auction winners announced following.

Last year, the club’s silent auction received a small turn-out, but this year members are hoping to reach their goal of 200 attendees.

“Every club member got help from scholarships or another nonprofit organization,” said Arteaga, “so it’s our way to give back.”

Tickets are $25 per person.
