Studio art tour features 20 artists

The fifth annual Johnson Lane studio art tour in Minden is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 and 19.

The traveling tour is free and open to the public. Signs will be posted throughout the neighborhood to keep participants on track.

“I started this group when I realized we had so many artists living in such a small area. We started with 14 artists, and now have 20 in this tour,” organizer Jan Rollenhagen said. “We condensed the driving by moving some artists into space at other studios. They will still be able to do demos of their work.”

There are eight studios and 20 artists representing oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, silk painting, gourds, jewelry, beaded art, wood art, wood turning, photography, leather work, and a book author.

“This year we have started something new, a free raffle ticket. They pick up the ticket at the first studio, get it signed at each studio, and drop it off at the last studio,” Rollenhagen said. “At 5 p.m. on May 19, we will draw four names, each receiving a $25 dinner gift card.”
