Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center’s 15th annual fundraiser is 4-9 p.m. Sept. 13 in the parking lot of Crystal Bay Casino in Stateline.
Guests will be treated to barbecue catered by Brimm’s A Catering Co., live music by Sixteen Tons and entertainment by celebrity emcee, singer and song writer, Darin Talbot.
The event will also feature whiskey tasting and dancing; attendees are encouraged to wear western apparel. In addition to food and entertainment, there will be silent and live auctions.
Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, a 501 (c) 3 organization, was founded in 1999 by Sam Waldman. It is located at the Double W Ranch in Minden.
The program offers an opportunity for freedom and self-fulfillment for children and adults with special needs. It is based on the concept that every human being, regardless of his or her disabilities, can benefit from an equine experience.
“There are people who may think that Kids & Horses is about giving pony rides to children with special needs. Nothing could be further from the truth. Kids & Horses provides an extremely high level of integrated therapy,” said Tami Force, mother of 11 year-old, Ryan, a student in the program. “He has Cerebral Palsy, Asperger’s Syndrome and he is also Gifted and Talented.”
Since all services are provided at minimal cost to the students, Kids & Horses seeks its financial support from private and corporate donors, service clubs, grants and its fundraising events.
Kids & Horses is the only Premiere PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Center in Northern Nevada.
Tickets are $50 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 12.
