Champagne, candlelight and dancing to the sound of rising star, Charles Herrera, will be the setting for the Carson Valley Arts Council’s 10th anniversary celebration 7 p.m. Friday in the CVIC Hall.
Herrera brings the audience back to the era of traditional vocal greats such as Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Vic Damone, Luciano Pavarotti, Bobby Darin, and many more.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Advance price is $15, or $20 at the door. Tickets for students with ID and children younger than 12 are $5.
Herrera was born and raised in Northern California in the heart of the world famous wine-growing region — the Napa Valley. Although technically, he is not an opera singer, he is classically trained and is comfortable in a wide range of musical styles from classic arias, country, pop, Broadway, jazz, and standards from the “Great American Songbook.”
He is also a trained actor, having studied with acting teacher and actress, Stella Adler. He has appeared in musicals and plays including Godspell, Oklahoma, The Mikado, and The Glass Menagerie to name a few. A seasoned cabaret singer, he has performed his critically-acclaimed and award-winning shows in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Mexico.
His upcoming CD is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2014. Visit the Charles Herrera websitewww.charlesherrera.com to learn more about him.
