Main Street Gardnerville will once again be hosting Thirsty Third Thursday wine walks 4:30-7:30 p.m. every third Thursday of the month, May through September in the downtown Gardnerville Main Street District.
Close to 40 businesses will be participating on Thursday. The theme for this walk is Nevada Hat Derby so wear your favorite Nevada hat or anything wild, crazy or elegant.
Some of the participating businesses are brand new to the district.
This year, Bob Richards from the Moo Crew, KBUL 98.1 will make an appearance from 4-6 p.m. Also during this first wine walk, there will be a new photo display up in the Sidewalk Gallery (corner of Highway 395 and Eddy Street) featuring the artwork of students from Douglas High School. Some of the students will be on hand to talk about their photos and they will be honored during a special reception.
“Each wine walk brings anywhere from 300-500 registered walkers to the downtown district,” organizers said. “These numbers do not take into account the number of people who did not register because they were designated drivers, who just wanted to come down to walk the streets and visit with friends and neighbors, or maybe just do a little shopping during these events.”
There will be two registration booths at opposite ends of the district this year, one near the south end of the district at 1407 Highway 395 (next to gadZooks!) and one at the Stratton Center North at Big Daddy’s Bike Ski & Board.
Participants must have a photo ID to register. Water will be available for designated drivers at each registration booth.
The cost to attend these wine walks is $5 for a commemorative light blue logoed glass (which can be used at all of our future wine walks) and then $10 to register.
Registered wine walkers will be entered into a drawing each month to win VIP passes to future wine walks and a $250 gift certificate to be used at businesses in the Main Street Gardnerville district. Winners to be drawn and announced after September’s wine walk.
