Bootleggers Band releases debut album

After a year of collaboration and hard work, Bootleggers Band has released its first 10-track album entitled “Stump Water.”

The band is celebrating with a release party 8 p.m. Saturday at Jethro’s Bar and Grill in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

“They’re all originals,” lead singer Billy Tucker said of the album. “We did the album ourselves. It’s right up there on a professional level. The feedback we’ve gotten on it has been great.“

Bootleggers Band has been playing at venues around the Valley for five years. Band members include Tucker, Robert Smile on guitar, Mike Grimes on bass and Jerry Mosley on drums.

“It’s been kind of a strange trip putting the band together,” Tucker said. “Mike and Robert are from Hollywood, and they’ve been in bands most of their lives. Jerry Mosley’s from Texas, and he’s been in different bands. This is the first band I’ve been in. We’ve got a good mix. We all get along and have fun playing together.”

Along with their original music, the band plays covers as well.

“We play a mixture of country and Southern rock,” Tucker said. “We cover anything from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Merle Haggard, but we add in our own twist.”

“Stump Water” can be heard on iTunes, and

Jethro’s is located at 1281 Kimmerling Road.
