Tahoe-Douglas Elks honor law enforcement

Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge 2670 held their annual Law & Order dinner and awards program on May 9.
The steak dinner and program was enjoyed by 200 people. Flag presentation was by Douglas County Explorer Scouts Color Guard.
Guest speaker was SFC Christopher Braman, a survivor of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon. Douglas County Sheriff and Elk member, Ron Pierini, made the award presentations for the sheriff’s department.
Awards were also presented to Nevada Highway Patrol, Department of Corrections, Aurora Pines Girls Facility and China Spring Youth Camp.
Color Guard members included Joshua Hodges, Gavin Dorris, Taylee Pickering and Spencer Flanders.
SFC Christopher Braman presented a U.S. flag that was flown over the Pentagon to Pierini.
Life-saving medal awards were presented to Deputy Jesse McKone, Pierini, Investigator Rick Koontz and Deupty Steve Haley.
