Collin Raye in concert at CVI
August 16, 2013
Five-time nominee for country music's Male Vocalist of the Year, Collin Raye returns to the Carson Valley Inn on Aug. 23. Raye performed "unplugged" to sell-out crowds in the Inn's Valley Ballroom in both 2011 and 2012. This time he appears with his band in a full concert production in the CVI's new outdoor Valley Sky Theatre.
Twenty-three of Collin's 25 singles went top 10; 15 of these going all the way to No. 1. Some of his biggest hits were ballads "Love, Me", "Little Rock" and "In This Life" plus rockers "I Think About You", "My Kind of Girl", "That's My Story" and "I Want You Bad." You'll enjoy many of these hits and more at his outdoor concert at the Carson Valley Inn on August 23.
"One of the true hitmakers of the 1990's, Collin Raye still continues to crank out soulful, heartfelt material with the honesty and richness that is signature to his vocals on his StarPointe Records label," promoters said. "Collin first performed at the Carson Valley Inn in the late 1980s as the leader of The Wray Brothers Band. He signed a record deal with Epic Records in 1990 and his debut single 'All I Can Be is a Sweet Memory' reached No. 29 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks charts."
Raye shot to fame with "Love, Me" in 1991. Listeners were so touched that they used its lyrics at funerals and memorial services. That set the cornerstone for a career built on meaningful songs. "Little Rock" was an anthem for the recovery community. "Not That Different" pleaded for tolerance. "In This Life" became a wedding favorite. He won awards for the child-advocacy video "I Think About You."
Tickets are $20 for general seating, and $28 for VIP seating and are available at the Carson Valley Inn hotel desk or by phone at 783-6606. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
