Parks & Recreation February schedule

Beginning Irish Dance

Ages 5-17 can learn the basic techniques and steps of traditional Irish dance and have the opportunity to participate in the local events. Class held 6:15-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 4-25 at the Dance Workshop. Cost is $55.

Little Miss Douglas County Pageant

Girls ages 0 to 17 will have a change to compete for Little Miss Douglas County. The winners will receive a banner and crown. All contestants will receive a gift. Pre-pageant meeting will be 10 a.m. Feb. 1 at the Dance Workshop Shop for ages 0-5, and noon for ages 6-17. The pageant will be Feb. 22. Cost is $80.

Beginner’s Tai Chi

Learn this soft martial arts form that will include warm ups, exercises and repetitions. Class held on Saturdays and is on going. Cost is $5 per month.

Ballroom Dancing

This is a chance to learn and practice the fundamental of many popular dances. Class will be 7:30-8:30 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 7-March 7. Cost is $80 per couple or $45 for single.

All Day Scrapbooking Workshop

Enjoy a day to work on your scrap booking projects. Instructor Jackie Gordon will share ideas, and have tools available for use. Class will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Feb. 8 at the senior center. Cost is $10 which includes a snack and water

Concealed Weapon Certification

This course will cover the requirements for Nevada State CCW and can be taken by CCW applicants or anyone wanting to learn to shoot handguns. Class will be 6-9:30 p.m. Feb. 19 and 21 at the Recreation Annex building, and 8-11 a.m. Feb. 22 at Douglas County Shooting Range. Cost is $90 plus an additional $10 insurance fee payable to the instructor. Spouses are half price.

Adult Art Multi Media — Watercolor

Create your very own creations using your choice of watercolor, graphic pen and ink, oil or acrylic paints. Supply list available at time of registration. Class will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 3-March 10 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $79.

Photographic Composition

Learn how to see great photo designs and composition and become skilled using lenses to accomplish the scene you want. Class will be 6-9 p.m. Feb. 26 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $15.

Point and Shoot Photography

Whether you use a cell phone or a point and shoot camera, this class is for you. Class will cover the similar techniques between cell phone or point and shoot cameras when photographing as well as composition and lighting. Class will be 6-9 p.m. Feb. 5 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $15.
