December lecture features early pioneer

Bob Ellison will discuss the story of Richard Sassaway Watkins for the Douglas County Historical Society’s December lecture.

The lecture begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center.

Ellison is a long time resident of Carson Valley, and the author of numerous newspaper and magazine articles and three books on Nevada history; “Territorial Lawmen of Nevada, First Impressions,” the history of the emigrant trail through Carson Valley from 1848-1851; and “Longbeard,” the story of Warren Wasson.
