Carson Valley Sinfonia performs Sunday

The Carson Valley Sinfonia will present its fall/winter concert 4 p.m. Sunday in the CVIC Hall.

The program will include “Prelude and Fugue,” by J. S. Bach, “First Movement,” from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, and two new scores by cellist and composer Marcia Stockton.

Conductor John O’Neill will unveil his newly published “Beethoven Goes Bananas” based upon Symphony No. 5, which can be heard on YouTube.

The 30-member Sinfonia is a student-community string orchestra with an age spread of 11 to 90. The orchestra is an offshoot of the Carson Valley Violin School, founded in 1992 by John and Nelle …
