Genoa makes a joyful noise

Singing and comedy can be hard to find in a family-friendly environment, but the twelfth annual Joyful Noise show, presented by Lake Tahoe Entertainment, is bringing it to Genoa.

The show is at 7 p.m. Dec. 19. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

“It’s a real community show, performed by seasoned singers and musicians, all local area residents who look forward to sharing their heartfelt performances,” said Cherie Shipley, who started the event 12 years ago.

Held in the Genoa Town Hall, the show features performers Shipley and her husband, John, the Joyful Noise chorus, and a Muppet spoof from the North Pole Comedy Club.

“It’s aimed at providing wholesome fun, laughter and joy, along with a great musical experience,” said Shipley, “Everyone leaves smiling.”

The Town of Genoa will provide a no-host bar.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-13, and free for children 5 and younger.

“My favorite part of the event is seeing the smiles on the faces of the audience as we perform,” said Shipley. “It’s so rewarding to know that we have once again provided a holiday comfort zone for many.”

Advance tickets are available through the Town of Genoa.
