Douglas County 4-H is sponsoring a Fall Family Costume Ball 5:30-9 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds Building. Entertainment includes dancing and fall-themed activities and contests. Prizes will be given for the best costume, best decorated pumpkin, dancing, and limbo. Face painting, photo booth, carnival games, pizza and refreshments for purchase. The annual Dake House, White House and Carson House Spirit Tour begins 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at 2242 Main St., Genoa. Thin Veil Investigators give tours of the houses. The Dake House was built in 1872 by Genoa’s first undertaker, and is listed in the “Encyclopedia of Haunted Places,” and has been featured in “Unsolved Mysteries” and on News Channel 8. The White House built in 1858 by Mr. Seaman is a bed and breakfast. Guests have reported mysterious sightings and organ music in the middle of the night. Bring flashlights and cameras. The ninth annual Carson Valley Harvest Festival is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every weekend in October at the Corley Ranch, 859 Highway 395, a mile south of Pinenut Road in Gardnerville.
