Fundraiser benefits seniors in need

Carson Valley Senior Living hosts its fourth annual Adopt an Elder fundraiser 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sept. 21.

Sponsored by the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club, Adopt an Elder helps residents in need of necessities their monthly stipend doesn’t cover.

“Over the years, the funds have been used to cover prescriptions, hygiene items, clothing, toiletries, dental assistance, etc.,” said Carol Wilson, activity director. “Although the name may be deceiving, people can’t actually adopt an elder, it’s done through monetary donations that are distributed back to us from YAH as these needs arise.”

The fundraiser will feature a silent auction, music by Don K and Nadine, a show & shine by the Valley Cruisers, and a chili competition.

“The staff and resident family members will be competing in our annual chili cook-off for prizes and our guests will do the voting,” Wilson said. “We’ll also have a rootbeer float and beverage bar to cool down any chili heat.”

Carson Valley Senior Living is located at 1189 Kimmerling Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. For more information, call 265-1400.
