Small fire burning above Jobs Peak

A helicopter was used to fight a small fire burning on U.S. Forest Service land about two-thirds of the way up Jobs Peak on Monday. First reported at 2:16 a.m., it was the second lightning-set fire in the Sierra after a thunderstorm passed over Carson Valley leaving a third of an inch of rain in places, and knocking out electricity. The helicopter was dropping buckets of water on the fire through Tuesday morning. “Really the only way to get that fire is with air, and have some folks hike up to it,” he said. “That’s going to take some time.” …
