The RC Morning Report for July 17

A meeting to discuss options for dealing with a band of wild horses living in Fish Springs is 6 p.m. tonight at the volunteer fire station. The Bureau of Land Management says the horses are outside of their management area.

A 12-year-old hiker with possible altitude sickness and his family were helped by Mono County Search & Rescue at around 4 p.m. Monday after they climbed into loose rock to find a tree for shade. Once up there, they couldn’t make it back down to the trail. Searchers helped lower them back to the trail. The party was able to make it the rest of the way down the mountain under its own power.

Today will be the last mild day for a while, sunny with highs in the upper 80s and winds 5-10 mph in the afternoon, before the heat sets in again on Thursday. We’re looking at triple digits by Saturday with a chance of thunderstorms.
