Close to a dozen food trucks are rolling into town today and Saturday for the Carson Valley Inn’s Food Truck Festival.
The smorgasbord takes place 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday in the CVI parking lot.
Gourmet food, desserts, cold drinks, shaded eating areas, live entertainment, drawings for up to $5,000 and children’s activities are all on the menu.
“We wanted to provide a fun event for the Valley and let people try food they might not ordinarily get to,” said Bill Henderson, CVI sales director. “It’s more than food. It’s another something to do in the Valley, and this will also give people the opportunity to see how the outdoor events center is progressing.”
A variety of food trucks will be serving up everything from wood fired pizza, barbecue, confectioneries, gourmet specialties, plus desserts and other treats.
Among the scheduled participants are St. Lawrence Pizza, Sauce Wagon, Hot and Healthy Foods, OMG Burger, Hot Dog Rod, Chi-Town Hustler, Fat Daddy Ice Cream, Island Ice, Tasters Paradise and more.
Adult beverages and soft drinks will also be available at the outdoor bars. Large tents and tables will provide shaded eating areas.
KODS Oldies 103.7 The River will be broadcasting a live remote from 1 to 4 p.m. featuring on-air personality Trey Valentine and hourly drawings for CVI “staycation” packages.
Live entertainment by After Dark runs from 4 to 8 p.m.
Activities for the kids include a giant slide, rock wall and bounce house.
Raffle tickets will be distributed randomly at the Food Truck Festival and drawings will be held inside the casino at 3, 5, 7 and 9 p.m. for the chance to win up to $5,000 in cash.
