A Carson City man was arrested Sunday for allegedly choking an 8-year-old girl he normally "roughhoused" with, according to the arrest report.

Kenneth Edward Luyet, 45, was booked into the Carson City Jail at 12:13 p.m. on suspicion of gross misdemeanor child abuse, a warrant for misdemeanor passing a check without sufficient funds from Sparks and misdemeanor obstructing an officer.

According to the arrest report, Luyet lives in a guest house behind an east Carson City home.

The homeowner's 8-year-old daughter told her mother and police that she and Luyet had played together before. But on Sunday when the girl went to talk to Luyet, he told her he didn't want to be bothered, then he pushed her onto the couch and placed his forearm across her neck, the report states.

The girl allegedly said Luyet held her there for several minutes, then he let her up and she ran to her father's house and called her mother.

When the mother attempted to confront Luyet, he allegedly refused to open the door and "would only yell that he did not do anything wrong," the report states.

Luyet told officers the girl was spitting and kicking him. He denied touching her neck, though the officer took photos of red marks on the child.

According to the report, Luyet gave a false birth date to attempt to hide his identity because of the outstanding Sparks warrant.

Luyet's bail was set at $3,957.
