The Douglas softball team got its season under way in dramatic fashion Thursday afternoon in California, beating Vacaville 3-2 on a walk-off double from freshman Makayla Shaver.Vacaville got two runs in the top of the first and clung to the 2-0 lead throughout until Douglas rallied with a three-run seventh.Freshman Kaitlyn Bowman pitched a complete game in her high school debut, striking out six, walking on and scattering six hits to pick up the win.Illiana Brown led the Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and a run scored.Bowman and Leonna Mortimer each had an RBI, …
